51st Mid-Year Conference at Albuquerque, NM

It was an interesting weekend for this Mid-Year conference.  We learned, as many of us know, that there were still quite a few questions regarding the WOTM and the process for women running for offices within the Lodge.  First and foremost, was the concept that One Moose in an all-encompassing principle.  While there is still some confusion for some about the place and function of the WOTM going forward, it was VERY clear that their specific missions and goals are still vital to the organization and as instrumental as ever in what they do for both Mooseheart and Moosehaven.  Many of the women received some clarification on what the Moose Legion missions and responsibilities are as well.  That said, perhaps we are closer to understanding the varying functions of Higher Degree from both sides.  Feel free to ask questions if you want more clarification.  The missions were not diminished by the establishment of One Moose.  It's more important than ever that our men and women understand the functions and value of our Higher Degree elements with both the WOTM and the Moose Legion.

It was great to see every one of our District Lodges represented at Conference, and I sincerely hope we make an even bigger presence at the End of Year Convention in Scottsdale.  Registration forms are available now and I will also see about getting them scanned and posted here for download for any who would like to go.  I've heard that another Lodge will be working hard on a fundraiser for us and I can only imagine that the more others see us and see our commitment to the Moose and our community, the more successful such efforts will be in getting us closer to accomplishing all we need with a new facility.

Don't forget that the District Picnic will be next month on April 9th, starting at 10 am until 4pm at Reid Park at lot 32.  It's an awesome spot with some pavilions and lots of room for our planned activities.  Be sure to bring the kids/grandkids and some extra singles for the raffles.  Our lifetime membership drawing will be held that day as well.  Food and games and a great time for all.

If you are seeing this in your email, be sure to follow the link back to the website to view any documents and forms that you might need.  I will be posting them as I can.  These currently will include the 25th Annual Charity Golf Registration form for Phoenix and the Registration for the End-of-Year Convention in Scottsdale in August.  I would love to see more of our members at the Convention this year.  Let's keep ourselves in view.  That said, I'm happy to announce to those who did not attend the General Meeting, that the East Mesa Lodge has opted to hold a fundraiser for us working toward our rebuilding costs.  I hope to have more details soon, so I will put that out there as well.
