August Newsletter Part I

August 2025 and it's HOT, HOT, HOT

I've labeled this as part one for August as we are awaiting some information that I hope to have fully developed by the upcoming meeting.  There may be a slight delay on a few things, but I still want to get something out there for everyone.  I also would like to thank the newest subscribers to our newsletter and welcome them.

First off:

The Board of Officers have been updated and our newest positions will be installed at our next meeting on the 11th at the Fire Station.  Becky Jolly has graciously agreed to step up to fulfill the office of President and we have great hopes for her.  David Linton, a long-time prior board member, has returned to take on the role of Vice-President and will be assisting Becky through all the new hurdles of being President.  John Shackelford and Bill Steudeman have also returned to accept spots with our trustee positions which had been very difficult to fill until now.  Ron Jolly, who finally was able to retire from the Board, has agreed to spearhead the Financial Review Committee.  That position has long been vacant off and on and it's good to finally have someone there who has a specific focus on fiscal responsibility.  Normally, the Board receives the information and should be aware of these things but having someone designated to truly observe and absorb the nuances of the Lodge Finances will be a great help moving forward.  There are a number of other positions still open that could be filled by members looking to do that little something extra as we ramp up the energy looking forward to completing our Lodge.

Our next Association Conference will be taking place in Scottsdale from Aug 21-24.  Registration can be done online, through the mail, or in-person (requires a small upcharge for late registration).  There are usually some good workshops that help others learn about the functions and duties of the Moose and it is always a great refresher and motivator for Moose officers and members alike.

For the first time in FIVE YEARS, we are looking to hold a District One meeting here in Arizona City.  We are currently working with the Tap Inn to potentially host this meeting in lieu of the Lodge building and are looking forward to putting out a full announcement and confirmation for it soon.  Mona is spearheading the conversation to make the arrangements and will likely be reaching out to some of our volunteer members to assist in all the little details that go into making a District Meeting just that much more.  Our newest Board for the District will be installed at that time, so we want to make it an extra special event.  There will be raffles, a bake sale and more.  Details to follow as soon as I have them at my fingertips.

I have a little more information to come and am waiting on some other updates before releasing Part II.  Have an awesome day, stay safe, stay cool, and keep your fingers crossed for even better news next post!!

As promised.....here's some additional information. There may yet be more on the way, but some great things are heading our way. First, congratulations to our newly installed officers. A huge thank you to those who've returned to help us get back to going in the right direction and to Becky Jolly for officially stepping up to President. Considering we started off behind the eight-ball struggling to even fill the Board completely, this turn around has proven that there are those who have the best interests of the Moose and our community in mind and that we are going to do our best to keep the momentum going. A few bits of information: For the first time in over five years, Arizona City will be hosting the District Meeting. Tap Inn has graciously agreed to allow us to use their facility for the meeting and will be providing breakfast burritos for $8 starting at 8 am. In addition to the meeting (which will include the installation of the newly elected officers for the District, there is an open invitation for a $25 for 18 holes and a cart for any individual who wishes to play. We would like advance notice so that we can let Ryan know what to plan for, but we will accommodate any who show and wish to play. If there are enough, we may look to do a mini-tournament with enough advance notice. We will also have a bake sale and raffle baskets available before, during and after the meeting.
