General Meeting Notes from 3/7/22

Update from General Meeting 3/7/22

So, we did announce that we have yet another delay in that one of the potential contractors declined to make a bid and another has asked for an extension in order to consolidate all of the necessary information for a more accurate bid.  Ideally, we need three bids to bring before the membership and only one had submitted one at this point.  The refusal letter from the one contractor can count as a bid scenario for our purposes, but we have four bid requests out there.  We would like to have at least two if not the entire three options to ensure we are getting the best price.   As we expected it by Friday, we found out a little late that we wouldn't have all the necessary information for the General Meeting.  We cannot reschedule a General Meeting without a dispensation and there was no time to do such anyway.  We would like to thank all those that did come and hope we were able to put out some good information about so many of the other things that we are seldom able to convey given our situation.

This newsletter post will be recurring and contain our building updates as well as communications and bulletins that would normally be posted in the Lodge Social Quarters.  As we hopefully get closer to moving forward with what we need, it is more important than ever that we get this information to you and let you know what we will need to do together to make this successful.  We have asked for any information or options we might have with local businesses and residents in order to start donation collections or fundraising since the price of materials and labor have gone through the roof due to COVID and, now, the world situation.  These increased costs have the potential to inflate our original bids significantly.  We have opted to look into more fundraisers and make other adjustments with members committing to some of the work as well to reduce those costs as much as possible.

A few other things that were mentioned at the meeting.  We do have the new website that you can reach through the link below in addition to the auto-mailer set up to ensure that everyone with an email address is able to receive the notices posted here.  There will be links for the various events going on throughout the District and Association via the website as well.

Anyone still having issues with their membership should reach out to me as soon as possible so that I can work to correct it.

Lastly, for now, the nominations were announced and a vote taken to close nominations at this meeting.   Anyone interested in running for an office can still submit a letter of intent by the 21st for potential review as per the bylaws of the Moose.  Remember, there are certain restrictions for running.  The basics are this: a member MUST belong to either the Moose Legion or the WOTM to qualify for any office.  Anyone interested in running for President MUST have held office for at least 12 months in our Lodge prior to running.  The nominating committee is responsible for verifying the eligibility of any who might wish to run.  If there are changes, a new announcement will be made for the nominees.  As it stands, these are the nominations currently in place:
President: Steve Ross
Vice-President: Larry Stearns
Treasurer: David Linton
Chaplain: John Shackelford
Trustee: Bill Stuedeman

Trustees Terry Applebee and Dewayne Hill will move up to the next slot for years 2 and 3.
Jr. Past President will be Randy Johnson

Any questions or comments can be addressed via email or phone response.  Thanks for your time.
